Is it an innovation (bid‘ah) to raise the hands when supplicating after ablution (wudu’)?

Among the Prophetic guidance is for a Muslim to say after performing ablution: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger," and the gates of Paradise will be opened for him. Scholars have differed regarding the authenticity of the addition: "O Allah, make me among those who repent, and make me among those who purify themselves." They also differed concerning the supplication: "O Allah, rectify my religion for me, and expand my inner self, and bless me in my provision," and its connection to ablution. If a Muslim authenticates these supplications, then it is legislated for him to raise his hands when supplicating with them, as the general rule for supplication is the desirability of raising the hands, unless there is evidence to the contrary, in accordance with the actions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
