What is the ruling on posting pictures of animals in forums for buying and selling purposes, and is it permissible?

Photographic images are a subject of disagreement among contemporary scholars. Some permit them because they are a transfer of images created by Allah and not an imitation, while others prohibit them based on hadiths that forbid image-making, such as "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image." Exceptions to the prohibition are made for necessities, such as identification cards. As for drawn images, their display is prohibited. If an image is limited to only the face or a body without a head, it falls outside the ruling of prohibited drawing.
