What is the ruling on hunting and eating amphibians?

The majority of jurists hold that all dead animals found in the sea are lawful to consume, even if they could live on land, with the exception of the frog, due to the prohibition against killing it. This is the preponderant and well-known opinion. Others maintain that the correct view regarding an animal that lives both on land and in the sea is prohibition, due to the confluence of evidence for both permissibility and impermissibility, in which case prohibition is given precedence as a precaution.
