What is the ruling on wasting prayer time for someone who is asleep, or waking up minutes before the time of the next prayer, and making up the prayer minutes before the Adhan of the following time?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The sleeping person must take measures to wake up for prayer. If they miss it due to sleep, there is no sin upon them, and they must pray as soon as they wake up, whether the time for it has passed or not. The prayer is considered performed on time if the worshipper catches a single takbeer before the time expires, according to the majority of scholars. Some say it is necessary to catch one complete unit (rak'ah).
