Is there a Hadith that prohibits a man from wearing a bright red garment, and what is this Hadith?

Scholars have differed on the ruling regarding wearing red garments due to the existence of hadiths whose apparent meaning indicates permissibility, such as the hadith of Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib: "I saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a red hulla, and I have never seen anything more beautiful than it." There are also hadiths whose apparent meaning indicates prohibition, such as the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas: "I was forbidden from wearing a red garment..." Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, in Fath al-Bari, favored its detestability if worn for adornment and ostentation, but permitted it for use within homes and for work.
