What is the ruling on children who restrain their drunken father and sometimes hit him to prevent him from drinking and yelling, after many gentle attempts have been of no avail?

It is not permissible for children to strike their father under any circumstances. They must prevent him from drinking alcohol if they are able. If he drinks alcohol and loses his mind, they may prevent him from going out by any possible means, and they should not resort to a harsher measure if a lighter one suffices, especially if he loses his mind and acts in the street in a way that harms his honor or exposes him to harm.
