Is it permissible for the Zakat Committee to invest Zakat funds in an investment project, and is it permissible for it to donate or contribute a portion of Zakat funds to build a public school?

It is not permissible to invest zakat funds or contribute them to public interests such as building schools, because the recipients of zakat are restricted to the eight categories mentioned in the verse: "Indeed, [prescribed] charitable donations are only to the poor, the needy, those who work to collect them, win over hearts, [free] captives, help those in debt, in the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer." The meaning of "in the cause of Allah" refers to the warriors engaged in jihad. Therefore, it is not permissible to spend zakat on building mosques, repairing roads, or similar matters that are not mentioned in the verse.
