How accurate is the attribution of the saying: "The Black Stone is Allah's right hand on Earth" to Ibn Abbas?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The narration, "The Black Stone is Allah's right hand on earth," was transmitted by Abdur-Razzaq as a mawquf narration attributed to Ibn Abbas, and by Ibn Asakir from Jabir. Ibn al-Jawzi and Ibn al-Arabi said: It is a fabricated hadith or not authentic. Al-Albani mentioned it in Al-Da'ifah (The Weak Narrations). Al-Tabarani narrated it with the wording, "And it is Allah's right hand - Almighty and Majestic - with which He shakes hands with His creation," and in its chain is Abdullah ibn al-Mu'ammal, whom Ibn Hibban deemed trustworthy despite his statement, "he makes mistakes."
