Is it obligatory to go to church with one's parents, especially a sick mother, solely to please them?

Muslims entering churches is a matter of dispute. The majority forbid it, some consider it reprehensible, and some permit it. The preponderant view is that it is reprehensible, unless entering involves exalting their religion, in which case it becomes forbidden. It is also forbidden to attend gatherings of disbelief inside churches. However, entering them to attend scientific meetings is corrupting to the call of Islam if the intention is to humiliate a Muslim. Entry is permissible in cases of necessity, such as genuine coercion. Going to church to please parents is not permissible. It is advised to treat parents with gentleness, offer excuses, not fall short in inviting them to Islam, be patient, and supplicate for their guidance.
