What is the wisdom behind concealing the number of the People of the Cave in the Holy Quran, and Ibn 'Abbas being informed of it?

One must ensure a correct understanding of the words of the people of knowledge, especially if the speaker is from the Companions or the Successors. It was understood from the verse in Surat Al-Kahf that Allah rejected the first two opinions regarding the number of the People of the Cave (three and five), describing them as "guessing at the unseen," and remained silent about the third opinion (seven), which indicates its correctness. Furthermore, He did not negate knowledge of their number from all people, but rather affirmed it for a few of them, among whom was Ibn Abbas, for whom the Prophet supplicated for understanding in the religion. The Quran mentions what benefits people and provides admonition, and turns away from what is not beneficial.
