Does the description of error and misguidance apply to Ahmed Deedat for interpreting the sun rising from the West as an كناية (allegory/metaphor) for the spread of Islam?

If what Ahmed Deedat said is true, then it is an unacceptable interpretation of the Hadith and a slip on his part. However, this does not mean he is misguided, for he has well-known stances in supporting and defending Islam. For someone whose good deeds are many and whose impact on Islam is great, what is not tolerated for others may be tolerated and forgiven for him, as Ibn al-Qayyim said.
