What is the ruling on befriending an beardless youth, and does it differ from befriending those who are called the "third gender"?

An effeminate-looking boy (amrad) falls into two categories: Either he is not handsome and does not cause temptation, in which case the ruling for him is the same as for other men. Or he is handsome and causes temptation, and looking at him or mixing with him with pleasure is forbidden. The Hanafis and Shafi'is have explicitly stated that he is like a woman in this case.

As for the third gender, who are the effeminate men (mukhannathun) who imitate women, the ruling for them is execution according to the consensus of the Companions. However, only the ruler can implement this. They are considered more severe than the effeminate-looking boys (murdān) in terms of the ruling on looking at them and mixing with them.
