Is expiation required for someone who swore to retaliate against a person for an insult, then that person apologized to him before he could retaliate?

The oath you swore is a broken oath (yamin hanath), and you must fulfill your oath by doing what you swore to do, or expiate for it. We advise you to expiate for your oath, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever swears an oath, then sees something else as better than it, let him do that which is better and expiate for his oath." The expiation for an oath is feeding ten poor persons with an average of what you feed your families, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. And whoever cannot find that, then fasting for three days.
