Is it permissible for me to own and use a mobile phone with a camera and save photos on it, knowing that I live in Palestine and asked a friend of mine in the UAE to buy it for me?

There is no harm in buying a mobile phone with a camera. However, the ruling on using the camera differs. If the photography is of inanimate objects, such as trees and buildings, then there is no objection. As for photographing living beings, such as humans and animals, scholars have differed on this matter. The preponderant view, according to us, is its permissibility with certain restrictions mentioned in Fatwa no. 30415.
