The answer

Initiating the greeting (salam) is recommended; there is no sin in omitting it, but it carries immense reward and benefits for both the individual and society. Whoever feels shy about it should encourage themselves to spread this . The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, urged the spreading of greetings, saying: "O people, feed the hungry and spread peace." He also said: "You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you of something that, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread peace among yourselves." Spreading peace is a cause for harmony and affection, and it is a demonstration of the Muslims' شعار (emblem/distinguishing mark), encompassing the removal of estrangement, desertion, and animosity.
