Please divide the inheritance among the following heirs: a wife and a son.

If the deceased leaves behind only a wife and a son, the wife receives one-eighth (1/8) due to the presence of a lineal descendant, as Allah states: "But if you have a child, then for them [the wives] is one eighth of what you leave." The remainder goes to the son by virtue of 'asaba (agnatic succession), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them; then whatever remains is for the nearest male." Thus, the inheritance is divided into eight shares: one share for the wife and seven shares for the son. It should be noted that matters of inheritance are complex and require consulting the Sharia courts to ensure there are no other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the heirs' rights.
