What are my duties towards a relative guest whose stay in my house exceeds three days and causes anxiety to my family due to his bad manners, knowing that he makes visiting us a habit every school holiday without permission, and does not host anyone in his own home?

First, be kind to the close guest whenever he arrives, and advise him with wisdom and good counsel to stop his abusive language. If he persists, there is no harm in not hosting him and sending him away courteously, without expelling or humiliating him. He is not allowed to enter without permission, and he must be taught the etiquette of Islamic law in this regard. His not rewarding you is not the habit of the noble, for whoever does not thank people does not thank Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged rewarding good deeds or supplicating for the one who performed them. Maintaining kinship ties does not preclude being kind to him, for kinship is a right for relatives. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who maintains ties is not the one who reciprocates, but the one who maintains ties is he who, when his ties of kinship are cut, reconnects them." He also said: "If you are as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you persist in that."
