Is a husband sinful if he prevents his wife from receiving her relatives who frequently visit and cause embarrassment and discomfort in his home, especially since they have another home in the same city? And how can one reconcile the two Hadiths: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest" and "And you have the right over them that they do not allow anyone you dislike to step on your bedding (or enter your home)"?

The Sharia encourages honoring guests. A guest is a traveler who stays with someone else seeking food and hospitality. As for someone who is not a traveling passerby, such as relatives and neighbors, they are visitors. You may grant them permission to enter or excuse yourself. A wife is not permitted to allow anyone whom her husband dislikes to enter his house.
