The married woman's responsibility towards her parents remains, but obedience to her husband takes precedence when there is a conflict. Both spouses must strive for harmony between themselves and the parents. The wife should visit her parents and give them gifts, and avoid disturbing them with her children or conveying marital disputes to them. If they are in need of financial support and she is able, she must provide for them. If she does not have private funds, then her intercession with her husband to help them is considered an act of righteousness towards them.
