How does one perform ghusl after major ritual impurity (janabah) and menstruation (hayd)? Is it obligatory to wash clothes, such as an abaya, and any secretions on them after kissing or intercourse? What is the ruling on washing other items, such as hair ties, shawls, and socks, if they have not been touched by impurities?

We have previously explained the method of performing the obligatory ghusl (definition). As for discharges after kissing: if it is madhiy, it is impure (najis) and whatever part of the body or clothing it has touched must be washed. Madhiy is a thin, white, sticky fluid that is discharged when there is desire, without gushing. If the discharge is maniy, it necessitates ghusl, and it is pure (tahir) according to the most authoritative opinion. It is recommended to wash whatever it has touched, to avoid disagreement among scholars.
