What is the ruling on a son taking money from his father's business without his knowledge, and is it permissible for him to keep this money to meet his needs?

It is not permissible for a son to take from his father's money except with his permission; otherwise, it would be considered theft. An exception to this is if the father does not provide his son with his obligatory maintenance, despite being able to, and the son is unable to support himself. In such a case, the son may take from his father's money what suffices him in a reasonable manner, based on the hadith of Hind bint Utbah. He is permitted to take for necessities such as food, clothing, and medical treatment, but he is not allowed to give charity from his father's money except with his permission. It is preferable to agree with the father on a salary in exchange for working with him.
