Is one who adopts the view of the jurists who hold that Friday Prayer is an individual or communal obligation, while disregarding the view that it is a Sunnah due to its anomalous nature, considered sinful?

The Friday prayer is an individual obligation (fard ayn) by scholarly consensus upon whomever meets its conditions. It is not permissible for one upon whom it is obligatory to absent themselves from it on the pretext that it is a collective obligation (fard kifayah) or a Sunnah. The statement that it is a collective obligation is an error attributed to the scholars, and those who attributed it to them have been refuted. As for the statement that it is a Sunnah, no scholar says this. What has been reported from Imam Malik, that attending it is a Sunnah, does not mean the technical term "Sunnah" as understood by later jurists.
