It is best for a Muslim to ask Allah for well-being, for no one has been given anything better than well-being after certainty (of faith). If a person is afflicted with a tribulation, he should ask Allah for patience, as Allah the Almighty says: "And when they advanced to meet Goliath and his soldiers, they said, 'Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.'" As for connecting the request for patience with the occurrence of tribulation, a hadith has been narrated concerning it, which some scholars have deemed weak.
