Is it true that Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb only memorized Surat al-Ikhlāṣ?

This claim is refuted, as it is established that Omar used to lead the people in prayer and recite Al-Fatiha in every rak'ah. He also recited Surat An-Nahl from the minbar, and Surahs Yusuf and Al-Hajj in the Fajr prayer. He learned Surat Al-Baqarah over twelve years. Books of Hadith and Siyar mention his knowledge and virtue, as the Prophet interpreted his dream by attributing Omar's virtue to knowledge. Ibn Mas'ud said that Omar's death removed nine-tenths of knowledge.
