Is it permissible to marry a man whose father had an illicit relationship with the woman, and would such a marriage be pleasing to Allah the Almighty?

Scholars have differed on the permissibility of a man marrying a woman with whom his father committed adultery. Shafi'i and Malik hold that it is not forbidden, while Abu Hanifa, Al-Thawri, and Al-Awza'i deem it forbidden. The preponderant opinion is that it is forbidden, based on the fact that the Lawgiver did not refer to the fornicator as a father, and on the noble verse: "And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to Allah ] and was a bad way." Furthermore, the opinion of prohibition is more cautious and further removed from doubt, as a son marrying a woman with whom his father committed adultery might enable the father to return to immorality. Therefore, it is not permissible to marry the son of this man if the relationship has reached the extent of immorality.
