Does practicing sex in a dream, with the hand between the thighs upon waking, affect the hymen?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A woman must perform ghusl if she experiences a wet dream and finds traces of semen, which is usually thin and yellowish. This is based on what Al-Bukhari narrated from Umm Sulaym and Umm Salamah, and in Sunan Abi Dawud from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). However, if she does not find traces of semen, ghusl is not obligatory upon her. Wet dreams and the mentioned sleeping position do not affect the hymen unless the woman unconsciously uses her hand or something while asleep. A person is not held accountable for what they do in their sleep. It is recommended to consistently recite the remembrances before sleep.
