It is not permissible for a husband to prevent his wife from maintaining ties with or visiting her sister, even if there is a disagreement between him and his wife's sister. Similarly, the husband does not have the right to prevent her parents, children, grandparents, or brothers from visiting her. Obedience to the husband is only in what is good and lawful. It is not permissible for a woman to obey her husband in severing ties of kinship, because severing ties of kinship is one of the gravest sins.
