Is the prayer of one who delays it beyond its prescribed time invalid and without benefit, thus rendering him an infidel?

Intentionally delaying prayer until its time expires is a heinous sin. Some scholars consider it an act of disbelief that expels one from the faith, while the majority of scholars believe it is not disbelief, and the one who commits it must make up the prayer and repent.
