Delaying the prayer until its time expires:

- If it is due to denying its obligation: The one who does so is, by consensus, a disbeliever (kafir), and must return to Islam and repent.

- If it is due to an overwhelming sleep or forgetfulness without negligence: It must be made up immediately, and there is no sin upon him.

- If it is due to laziness and negligence: This does not render him a disbeliever according to the majority of scholars, but it is a grave sin and one of the major sins, and severe warnings regarding it have been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah.
