The answer

Exceeding the prescribed, narrated remembrance (dhikr) does not cause harm, especially with ignorance or error. It is hoped that whoever performs it will receive the reward for the (recommended act) and the reward for the excess, as dhikr is legislated in general. Some scholars are of the opinion that exceeding the specified number may cause one to miss the particular reward, while others believe that the reward is attained by performing the specified amount, and the excess does not remove it. A distinction is made between intending to comply with the narrated number and then exceeding it, in which case the reward is obtained, and exceeding it without the intention of compliance.
