How is the estate of a deceased woman to be divided, she having left a husband, a daughter, a deceased daughter who has two sons and a daughter, and a sister who has a son and a daughter, and she left no will?

It is a condition for the heir to be alive at the time of the testator's death. Thus, a daughter who dies after her mother does not inherit, and her children do not inherit from their grandmother. If the deceased leaves behind only a husband, a daughter, and a sister, the inheritance is divided into four shares: the husband receives one-fourth (one share) due to the presence of a lineal descendant, the daughter receives one-half (two shares) due to being the sole daughter, and the sister receives the remainder by way of 'asabah (one share).
