What is the ruling on one who did not show patience at the first shock, but complained and grumbled, then later repented and became patient? And will he receive the reward of the patient? And is it permissible to calmly seek medical treatments and solutions while exercising patience?

If one misses the full reward of patience at the first shock, they can repent, be patient, and seek reward from Allah (احتساب) to attain the recompense of the patient, even if they missed the completeness of the initial reward. Patience does not contradict striving to remove affliction and avert calamity through possible means. The strong believer strives for what is beneficial, seeks help from Allah, and does not despair. If overwhelmed by matters, he says, "Allah has decreed, and He does what He wills." Thus, a person is between two states: a matter that he undertakes and in which he seeks Allah's help and does not despair, and a matter that befalls him for which he has no remedy, so he must be patient and not panic.
