What are the mistakes that occur when visiting the Prophet's Mosque?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Among the errors some pilgrims commit when visiting the Prophet's Mosque is their belief that the visit is a part of Hajj and that Hajj is not valid without it. This is a false belief.

Another error is circumambulating the Prophet's grave, rubbing against the windows of the chamber and its walls, and kissing them, as well as rubbing against the mihrab, the minbar, and the mosque walls. All of this constitutes reprehensible innovations (bid'ah).

The gravest and most significant error is when some visitors supplicate to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to relieve distress or fulfill desires. This is major shirk (polytheism) that expels one from the fold of Islam.
