Is it permissible for a Sunni Hanafi Muslim to adopt the fatwa of an Ash'ari شيخ (shaykh)?

If a mufti is qualified to issue fatwas in matters of worship, transactions, and ethics, and possesses scholarly competence and piety, then there is no objection to seeking a fatwa from an Ash'ari and adopting their view. However, in matters of creed, a fatwa should only be sought from one known for their adherence to the methodology of the Righteous Predecessors (Salaf al-Salih), because the Ash'aris differ from the Salaf in a number of creedal issues.
