Algeria was formerly part of Central Maghreb, extending from Bejaia to Wadi Moulouya. The conquest of the Maghreb continued for about seventy years, from 21 AH to 90 AH. Algeria was conquered by Uqbah ibn Nafi', then Zuhayr ibn Qays, then Hassan ibn al-Nu'man, after which the Islamic conquest of the Maghreb continued under Musa ibn Nusayr.
