What is the meaning of a good patriot and a renegade traitor?

The term "patriot" (وطني) is attributed to one's homeland (وطن), which is the country where a person resides. "Righteous" (صالح) is a description derived from "to be righteous" (صلح), which is the opposite of "to be corrupt" (فسد). A "traitor" (خائن) is one who disposes of his trust contrary to Islamic law, and a "renegade" (مارق) is one who deviates or rebels. Thus, the righteous patriot (الوطني الصالح) cares for his homeland and strives for its betterment, while the treacherous renegade (الخائن المارق) betrays his homeland and rebels against its system.
