What is the reason for people's bashfulness before God in the darkness of night due to prolonged sleep, as mentioned by Al-Fudayl ibn Iyad?

The statement is attributed to more than one scholar, such as Ibn al-Jawzi and Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi, who reported that Ad-Dahhak said it. It appears that their feeling of shame stems from their sense of shortcomings in their duty towards Allah Almighty, their heedlessness in remembering Him, and their enjoyment of prolonged sleep. This motivates them to leave their beds and stand before Allah, humbly praying, hoping for His mercy and fearing His punishment. Allah has praised such individuals in several places in the Noble Quran, such as: {They used to sleep but little of the night. And in the hours before dawn, they used to ask for forgiveness} and {Their sides forsake their beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and aspiration} and {And those who spend [part of] their night prostrating to their Lord and standing [in prayer]}.
