Is the worshipper sinful if he rejects the person next to him from joining his foot to his, thereby creating a large gap between them?

The statements of scholars differed regarding the ruling on straightening rows. Some of them went to the opinion that it is obligatory, citing prophetic hadiths, among which are: "You must straighten your rows, or else Allah will cause disagreement to occur among your faces," and "Straighten your rows," and "Straighten your rows, for I see you from behind my back." Meanwhile, the majority of scholars went to the opinion that straightening rows is a confirmed Sunnah (definition), not obligatory, and there is no sin upon one who leaves it.
