A woman must cover her 'awrah (intimate parts) from non- men, and this includes her forearms. Uncovering the 'awrah is not permissible except in cases of necessity or dire need, such as medical treatment or a suitor's viewing. It is not permissible to uncover it for six months for the purpose of work. Mixing between men and women in work and study is forbidden. Therefore, one must search for permissible work where the woman is safe from uncovering her 'awrah and from unlawful mixing.
