A woman's maniyy (sexual fluid) is characterized by being yellowish and thin. Its discharge is accompanied by lust and pleasure, followed by a weakening (of the body). Its smell resembles the pollen of a fresh date palm. The presence of just one of these characteristics is sufficient for it to be considered maniyy, and it is not required for all of them to be present. A woman is like a man in that her state of janabah (major ritual impurity) occurs with the discharge of maniyy, and in recognizing maniyy by the aforementioned characteristics. It is also said that it is recognized by the pleasure felt.
