The correct and established fact is that Umar ibn al-Khattab married Umm Kulthum bint Ali ibn Abi Talib, whom Umar honored greatly, giving her a dowry of forty thousand dirhams due to her lineage from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. She bore him Zayd ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab.
