Are the certificates advertised in newspapers and media, which carry large monetary prizes, and telephone competitions, permissible or forbidden?

The rulings concerning promotional and advertising prizes and competitions vary between prohibition, doubtfulness, and permissibility. Previous fatwas have detailed these rulings. Those who promote unlawful things are advised to fear Allah, and the verse warns them: (Indeed, those who like that immorality should spread among those who have believed - will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter).
