Among the things that help achieve sincerity are: private devotion through supererogatory acts of worship and concealing acts of worship that has not commanded to be publicized. However, this alone does not guarantee a person's safety from self-admiration and arrogance. The feelings you experience during worship might be due to a lack of sincerity or from the whispers of Satan, so you must strive against your lower self. Do not abandon any good deed for fear of not being sincere in it. Al-Fudayl said: "Abandoning action for the sake of people is hypocrisy, and acting for the sake of people is polytheism, and sincerity is that Allah frees you from both." Beware of succumbing to whispers, for your eagerness for sincerity is a sign of goodness.
