Is it permissible for a husband to socialize with his friends and their wives, and what is the legitimate proof for its prohibition? Is there a prophetic hadith that states: "Do not put yourself in a wrong place or situation, and say: 'I can get out of it,' or 'I can avoid making a mistake'"?

No hadith has been found regarding the avoidance of a wife befriending her husband's friends. However, Islamic law encourages avoiding situations that lead to suspicion, as in the story of Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and his saying: "Beware of that for which you will have to apologize." As for a husband sitting with his friends in the presence of an unrelated woman, there is no problem if temptation is avoided and Islamic etiquette is adhered to. Otherwise, such a gathering should be avoided.
