What is the ruling on using intercession or "wasta" to gain admission to the university after the registration period has closed, due to lateness?
It is permissible to use intercession to gain admission to a university if the laws of the country do not prohibit it and no harm results from it. The one who strives for it will be rewarded, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah is in the aid of His servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother," and "Whoever can benefit his brother, let him do so." As for the intercessor demanding a price for his intercession, it is forbidden unless it is in exchange for expenses or efforts.
