Does my late acceptance into the Korean language scholarship, after I prayed to God to distance me from it if it was not good for me, mean that it is evil that I insisted upon, or that it is good for me that came about through my efforts?
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, taught us to perform Istikhara (seeking guidance from Allah) in all matters, by praying two rak'ahs other than the obligatory prayers, then supplicating with the specific dua for that purpose, mentioning the need in its designated place.
If a person performs Istikhara, they should be content with what Allah decrees for them, and whatever happens, whether acceptance or rejection, will be the best for them. Istikhara should not be performed for anything that involves a prohibited act; such acts must be abandoned.
