Is it necessary for the aqiqah for a male to be two rams, and is it permissible to slaughter two ewes that are cheaper due to the inability to afford two rams? And is it sufficient to buy a whole slaughtered animal from the butcher with the intention of aqiqah, or to slaughter a sheep at his place and give its meat in charity? And is it permissible to make a feast (walimah) from the aqiqah for guests, given the inability to purchase more than two sheep?

The 'aqiqah is a confirmed Sunnah, not obligatory. For it, a sheep that suffices for the Udhiyah is sacrificed for the newborn. It is more complete for the one who is able to sacrifice two sheep for a male child, though one sheep is sufficient. It is not permissible to fulfill it by buying meat or a slaughtered sheep, because the sacrifice is an act of worship intended for this specific purpose. There is no harm in making the 'aqiqah a feast or hospitality with the intention of charity.
