The meaning of "among my companions" is: those who ascribe themselves to my companionship. And (the eye of the needle) is the hole in the needle, and its meaning is: they will never enter Paradise. These hypocrites are the ones who plotted to assassinate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on his way back from one of the battles. Ibn Kathir mentioned their story when interpreting the verse of Allah Almighty: {They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet], while they did say the word of disbelief, and disbelieved after their [seeming] submission to Islam, and planned that which they were not to attain}.
