What should one do who prayed two rak'ahs of Maghrib prayer and saluted, thinking they had completed it? Should they repeat the prayer or add one rak'ah and then salute? Is it permissible to delay the prayer to perform it in congregation with one's husband?

If someone ends the prayer before its completion and remembers immediately after ending it, or a short time thereafter, they should complete their prayer, then say the taslim, then perform the prostrations of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw), then say the taslim. However, if a long time has passed, they should repeat the entire prayer. The evidence for this is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ended the prayer after two rak'ahs, then completed them and performed the prostrations of forgetfulness. It is permissible for a woman to delay her prayer to pray with her husband in order to attain the reward of congregational prayer, as long as she does not fear missing the prayer's prescribed time.
