A young man must avoid unlawful mingling with women. Interaction with them should be limited to necessity, with lowering of the gaze. Jealousy is natural for a man, but its excess is blameworthy. A girl's previous engagement to a young man does not diminish her religiosity if it was merely a marriage agreement and nothing feared occurred. A girl's introversion does not affect the marital relationship. Legally permissible love is for the wife only, and it is affection and mercy; anything else is forbidden passion. Passion must be combated, and its causes severed. The ideal solution to avoid forbidden relationships and attachment is marriage. Marriage requires careful consideration and good selection based on religion and character, as emotion alone is insufficient.
